Player customization
- Player skin tone can be chosen upon character creation
- Overhauled skin tone/tanning system, each skin tone has 8 tanning levels
- Boy player characters can have the princess hat, girl player characters can have the viking hat
Assorted QoL/controls/additions
- Overhauled storage, works like ACWW and onwards, expanded to 160 slots per player
- Proper widescreen support added
- Camera transition between acres can be disabled
- Camera angle can be changed outdoors with C-stick
- Keyboard support (Dolphin - any USB keyboard, real hardware - PSO keyboard)
- GBA no longer necessary for accessing island, kapp'n always available at the dock
- Furniture can be placed outdoors
- Saving/loading is faster than vanilla
- "Before I go..." renamed to "Settings"
- Settings menu options rearranged to be easier to navigate
- Chance of villagers moving out when visiting other towns reduced from 100% to 10%
- More acre types are valid for tortimer to build the third bridge
- Town tunes can be typed with the keyboard
- Support for higher framerates, up to 200FPS (work in progress, some things not fully converted to delta time)
- Gyroid outside player house can be assigned a nickname
- Bugs+fish can be dropped on the ground
- Villager quests can now be progressed if the relevant villager is inside an igloo
- Can receive further hints from wishing well when short of perfect town
- Fanfare for catching a bug, finding a fossil, and so on no longer interrupts hourly music
- Holes dug by player no longer despawn as result of distance
- Requirements for washing gracie's car are 20% lower
- Can view a more detailed version of the map by pressing R button
- Feng shui colors for furniture updated to match later games
New uses for Z-button
- Can quicksave by pressing Z+Start
- In-game clock can be synced with L+R+Z on the time change menu
- Can switch tabs in menus going backwards with Z+R
- Patterns can be removed from ground by pressing Z+B
- Can automatically place most recently used design again with Z+D-pad up
- Can access transparency while editing a pattern by holding Z while using a design tool
DnM/DnM+ (re)additions
- Scrapped furniture/clothing from DnM/DnM+ added
- Japan-exclusive furniture added
- Fireworks festival occurs each saturday in August
- July 4th fireworks festival is still present
- Newly created towns can have a 50/50 chance to have a shrine, like DnM/DnM+, instead of the wishing well
- If there's a shrine in the town, the New year's celebration is the Japanese version of the holiday
e+ additions
- Outdoor decor from e+ added, though now obtained through a new visiting NPC named Renna
- Villager moveout system overhauled to be like e+ (look at Nookipedia for more details)
- Resetti's surveillance center added
- Tom nook can be woken up to access the store at night
- Can become best friends with villagers, they'll greet you as you pass by
- Best friend dialogs from e+ added (live song gifts, greetings, etc)
- e+ villagers, furniture, bugs/fish, K.K. slider songs added
- Sale day overhauled to be like e+
- Chip gives the player a rod during the fishing tourney if they don't already have one
- Letters and patterns have their own dedicated files on the memory card

- Nook's catalog can be changed to have either the default sorting or alphabetical
Crazy Redd additions/changes
- Crazy Redd sells four items instead of three
- Crazy Redd is guaranteed to sell at least one painting per visit
K.K. Slider additions/changes
- All K.K. songs up to new leaf added
- Song names are less strict to type correctly when making requests
Custom pattern additions
- Patterns can be shared via a new feature to import/export patterns via the memory card
- Patterns can be placed on ground
- Patterns can have transparency
- Additional palettes added for patterns, unlocked by befriending Sable
- Town flag added next to train station, can have a custom pattern applied
- Custom patterns can be applied as background to the item screen
Plant additions/changes
- New fruit type - chestnuts (originally a scrapped DnM item)
- Overhauled flowers, now work similar to but not exactly like ACWW and onwards
- Flowers can be dug up and moved with a shovel
- New flower type - roses
- New flower type - Jacob's ladder (originally from e+)
- Hybrids can be bred with a watering can (sold by Nook)
Clock additions/changes
- Clock interface can be changed to look like the ones from DnM/DnM+ and e+
- Current acre is displayed nearby the clock (currently only applies to the default)
Fossil additions/changes
- Blathers can assess fossils, unlocked by donating 15 fossils
- Fossils can be mailed to Farway Museum to be sold after Blathers's assessment is unlocked
- Multi-piece have a higher sale price when sold this way
- 5 new fossils from ACWW added
Housing additions/changes
- Top floor of house can be expanded to 8x8
- Basement's wallpaper/flooring can be changed
- Music players inside houses can have their volume raised/lowered
- More furniture can be used as a surface for tabletop items
- Toggle for turning lights on/off swapped to use D-pad
- Gyroids can be placed on tables
- Placed tabletop items can be rotated
- Rotated diaries no longer have their positions reset
- Can change direction you're facing while sitting on four-sided chairs (also applies to stumps/rocks)
Golden tools changes
- Golden watering can is now the perfect town reward
- Golden axe changed to being obtained by purchasing 100 saplings from tom nook
NES changes
- NES games can have different aspect ratios
- "Forbidden four" NES games can be obtained through normal gameplay
Letter changes
- Letters can be thrown out indoors
- Letters can be multiselected for being mailed, marking as read, receiving enclosed gifts, being thrown out
Balloon present changes/additions
- Balloon presents now play a sound effect when floating by
- Balloons are more likely to actually collide with a tree, due to a bug fixed from original game being fixed
- Balloons can be smacked down with a net, while standing on edges of cliffs
- Mario items can be found via balloons
