aerobics, day 12. yeppers.

on my way to my daily pilgrimage to tortimer, i noticed i had some hybrids grow in, meaning the island's rain effected the mainland. so i spent some time wandering around to see exactly how many i had actually grow in.

the answer to that question, freaking massive haul. so many, in fact, that the amount i had felt like they'd be going to waste if i didn't do some form of landscaping with them. i decided that i'd go decorate outside of nook's for my first priority. since one of his tutorial quests is to plant trees and flowers outside his shop, it only felt right to give him a big garden.

not even joking, i spent maybe two hours on-and-off agonizing over getting it arranged the way i wanted, digging up and replanting flowers, pulling flowers out of other acres, etc, in different arrangements over and over until i landed on this layout. i'm really happy with how it looks, it makes me want to get some gardens like this growing for some other areas once i get more hybrids.

in the process of getting this planted, i heard another villager greeting me. leopold this time, making him the second i've hit best friend status with. i'm still really surprised how attached i got to him, all because of me screwing up in ACSE lmao.

right when i was about to call it wraps on the game for the day, i got a ping about deluxe getting a new update. this one had stuff i've been really looking forward to, so i was on that frame 1. we got a new flower type, roses, which were added in wild world, and even more exciting to me, we got the watering can, another wild world addition. i find this particularly awesome, because not only does it mean you're not at the mercy of waiting for rain to get hybrids, but also it's a completely custom tool, with a custom model and textures specifically for this mod.

it's crazy to me how good it looks, it fits right in. it even has a golden variant.

i TTed a couple days to try to get one, as well as some rose seeds but those were lower priority. in the process of TTing, i saw that monique moved out. while i like monique, she's another one where i felt i wouldn't be particularly upset if she decided to leave. the villager to take her place was otis.

genuinely don't think i've ever seen him before, like my eyes must have glazed over him every time i looked at a villager list. he's one of the ones that have only been featured in GC and no other entries. he's pretty neat aside from his ugly default shirt, and his house is pretty fire.

anyway, TTed back to normal, watered my hybrid gardens, that's about the extent of today.

aerobics. day 11. caught 3 beetles. turned the game off.

as for my real playsession, i had a pleasant surprise today when i passed by cobb and heard him greeting me out loud as i walk by. in e+ and later entries, you get a gradual increase in friendship the more you talk to villagers and do quests for them, culminating in you becoming best friends with the villager. ...y'know, like real life. in wild world onwards, that means you get given a portrait of said villager, but that isn't a thing yet in e+. anyway, deluxe adds the e+ version of this feature to the game. cobb being the first villager i hit best friends status with is a bit of a surprise, though more surprising is it happening so soon after i started. i guess him giving me two requests the other day was enough to push it over.

since it was daytime when i played today, i made a trek to the island, since i know there's a couple bugs that can only be caught on the island. i was instead met with rain. since the variety of bugs would be diminished from the rain, i decided to shift my focus elsewhere, and start testing if hybrids can grow on the island. i made a couple trips back and forth, bringing excess flowers on my mainland to my island, and trying to get very small hybrid breeding patches with the small amount of free space i had available after planting trees. i'll have to see tomorrow if it works out.

since i was on my island, i of course made another visit to rowan... aaand i saw upon walking in, his house was as barren as the other day. when i spoke to him, he gave me an explanation why...

how???????? you literally have another item from the cabin set in your room i gave you a few days ago. also, like, you literally only have a table in here, you don't exactly have room to be picky, my guy.

...anyway, he gave me my armchair back, and instead requested a painting for his next housing item. because it's definitely more important to have a painting in your room instead of a chair, or a bed, or anything else.

anyway, that's basically all i got up to today.

today, i missed the aerobics by over an hour cuz i was playing fortnite with some friends. i feel like this section for blog entries is just becoming "what was gray doing this morning?" that's the only reason why i find this kinda annoying, i'm usually doing other stuff at the time it's scheduled to run, and they only go for an hour window. i find myself wishing they ran for two, buuuut i feel like my villagers would hate that lmao. at the very least i'm at double-digits now, so four days left til i get the aerobics radio furniture item, and i can finally stop bothering.

anyway, i TTed back to catch it, then after talking to tortimer, went back to realtime. the reason for this is i felt like actually doing a daytime bug hunting session today, as opposed to doing it really early in the morning when the main bugs around are just beetles. as for why...

i FINALLY caught one of these damn things after they've been eluding me for three weeks. for a while, they had an issue where they were way more difficult to catch with deluxe's borderless camera. then, after that issue being fixed, i've either been starting my playsessions at 5pm, right when they go away, or on days where i start playing early enough for them to still be around, it's raining.

gracie also visited today

only other thing of note today is i had two villagers visiting the housing acre this morning, which i thought was cute.

missed the aerobics by like ten minutes cuz i was too busy playing crosscode at the time, so i TTed back to catch it. basically just turned my game off right after, instead of trying to look for a few beetles before wrapping up. i didn't even fix my clock or anything afterwards to be realtime.

my actual playsession for the day started rather late since i was busy irl until like 9pm. the main thing of note is i did a few chores for villagers. they usually don't have anything for me when i ask, but today i had three... with cobb being two of the three. for one of them, he asked me to get him an apple, and was enthralled when i actually delivered.

yeah man, it was really difficult lmao.

august 3rd

started the day off with, you guessed it, aerobics.

since i had the game going, i also did another check to see if i had any additional hybrids grow in from the previous day's rain. had some good luck with my tulips and pansies, but my cosmos aren't seeming to produce very many from the rain i've had so far. which is odd to me, since the way it's laid out doesn't really seem inefficient. i think i've only gotten one pink cosmo and one orange one, the rest just being from the seedbags nook sells in vanilla AC. guess it's just luck.

i ended up finding a use for a handful of my hybrids (which in itself is a breeding patch). they're being used to be more aesthetically pleasing landscaping to adorn my new windpump.

as for my non-hybrids, i had a ton of excess, so i made a trip to the island to repopulate the ones i stole to get my hybrid-breeding patches started.

since i was there, i made yet another visit to rowan. he asked me for a cabin armchair, which means now his r/malelivingspace house now at least will have a chair and table. which is better than literally nothing, i guess...

on the topic of villagers, lol lmao my villagers are so sick of these aerobics, i watched two of them fall asleep mid-conversation with me.

i'd expect it from dozer, cuz yknow, dozer, but not lobo lmao.

last real highlight of the day is i made myself a custom brown fence, and i actually really like how it turned out. i managed to keep it constrained to the same colors of the wooden siding on the house.

august 2nd

i knew from accidentally leaving my game running past midnight that it was going to storm today, so that means i didn't have to bother trying to catch the aerobics. this worked out greatly for me, as much as i want to get this done with sooner rather than later, since i was watching the granblue news stream at that time anyway.

and since i had the game loaded when it rained at at midnight, which is before the game actually counts the date as rolling over for most features involving plants, that means it counted for my hybrids. had a massive haul today, six hybrids, a bunch of my basic-color flowers multiplying, and a new jacob's ladder grew in.

in the process of hunting down my hybrids, i ran across renna, who was scheduled for her first visit to my town today.

renna, as i mentioned in last month's blog, is a new npc added to deluxe. she's the npc that handles e+'s equivelant to new leaf's public work projects, and her design is based on a scrapped design from acgc. today she had a selection of three items: animal tracks, strange egg, and windpump (i THINK those were the names). i ended up choosing the windpump, which looks like this:

the way she works is interesting, i actually prefer it to how e+ handles it. on days she visits, she has a selection of three random projects available to build. you see her wandering around town, and then she follows you to where you build it. things can be built anywhere in the town, as long as theres room, similar to isabelle in later games. in contrast, in e+, you get a selection of three random projects, and they have to occupy the space of one of the vacancy signboards.

the last highlight of the day is checking in on my island to see if i had any more luck with beetles now that i planted some normal fruit trees. the answer, not really, so i planted a few more. on my way i visited rowan, who decided to throw out all of his decor aside from a table i gave him... i think yesterday? i forget.

august 1st

it's the halfway point of the aerobics now. i made the unfortunate discovery that i can tell which motions are coming up based on the song, and if i try i can actually follow along. all because of my daily visits to farley coinciding with the aerobics going on.

nook resumed his normal operations today, so i was finally able to offload the stuff i accumulated yesterday.

you can tell i've been too lazy to do anything with my fossils. even the added feature of blathers being able to appraise fossils for you without needing to mail them doesn't stop me from piling unappraised fossils on his doorstep.

anyway, for the most part, today was just a chill session, so chill that i kinda just forgot i left the game running for hours when i was done doing my laundry and whatnot. the only other highlight is my villagers STILL continue to be obsessed with this pattern.
